Daniel Cano

Historian and novelist. Dr. Cano holds a Master’s degree in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and a Ph.D. in History from Georgetown University. Based in Washington, D.C. He currently teaches at the university level.

Cano is author of Weichafe (2025) and El rugido de Lautaro (2024), the latter winner of the International Latino Book Awards, in the category “The Isabel Allende Most Inspirational Fiction Book”.

His academic work explores indigenous histories and identities in Latin America. Among his publications is “Indigenous Displacement in Southern Chile. Building Bridges of Peace through Education Exchange,” featured in the Harvard Review of Latin America. Video Kuykuitin Project.
